CORPORACION MULTI INVERSIONES: The second phase of the Bosporus Project enters into operations in El Salvador

Corporacion Multi Inversiones recently  issued the following announcement.

AES El Salvador and Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) started operations of the second phase of the Bosphorus Project, Bosphorus II, with the start-up of the Jiquilisco plant, Usulután, which will generate 10 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic solar energy and will have capacity to supply 37,000 homes.

The aforementioned plant was built with an investment of $ 16 million and has 44,000 photovoltaic modules. It is equipped with three power stations, which convert the direct current energy to alternating current, and has an electrical distribution substation that adapts this energy to inject it into the distribution network.

In the coming months, the other three generators that make up Bosphorus II will be added to this solar park and are currently under construction in the western region of the country: two in the department of Santa Ana and one in the department of Sonsonate. The total investment of the so-called phase II will amount to $ 64 million.

According to company data, the four solar parks that make up this stage will together generate 40 megawatts of energy and allow the reduction of 70,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually to contribute to the country's energy and environmental sustainability.

Bosphorus is a project designed in three phases that will represent a total investment of $ 160 million. The 10 plants that form it will generate, once they all come into operation, a total of 100 megawatts of energy with photovoltaic solar source.

Currently, apart from the Jiquilisco plant, belonging to the second phase, three more plants of the Bosphorus I phase are already operating: Pasaquina, El Carmen and La Unión, located in the department of La Unión.
