Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala recently issued the following announcement.
Last Friday, December 28, 2018, in relation to Government Agreement 242-2018, it was published in the Diario de Centroamérica, where the President of the Republic resolved, in the light of the economic circumstances of the country, not to increase the Minimum Wage, since it avoids a greater informality of the economy, which keeps congruence with the adjustment to the economic variables that were recently revised and that were the inputs for the discussion of this topic. The Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce supports the presidential decision and reiterates its best willingness and commitment to contribute in the creation of a new national minimum wage policy that encourages the development of all Guatemalans.
