Corporacion Multi Inversiones issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.
The Renace Hydroelectric Complex is located in the municipality of San Pedro Carchá, Alta Verapaz. It has developed and integrated coherent actions that support the development of more than 21 thousand people from the communities neighboring the project, reinforcing the relationship through open dialogue, prioritizing needs and working together.
Within this prioritization of needs, Renace has implemented a strategy of shared social value that has seven social programs, of which more than 21,000 people have benefited in 29 communities of San Pedro Carchá.
Shared Value Model
The successful strategy implemented is based on the Shared Value Model, which has three pillars:
Corporate values (REIR): responsibility, excellence, integrity and respect.
Community Relations: processes that allow for long-term relationships for the generation of mutual trust such as: socialization, consensus, collaboration, community and company.
Sustainable Social Development: construction and implementation of community infrastructure, programs and economic development.
The three links are integrated into the implementation of seven social programs:
1. Healthy families
It is linked to women who contribute to improving the health and nutrition of families. In this program, health and hygiene practices are trained to attend the 1,000-day window and thus reduce chronic malnutrition and maternal and infant mortality. With this program, chronic malnutrition in the communities neighboring the project has been reduced by 14%.
2. Educational excellence
This program focuses on the school environment, delivery of school supplies, educational material, teacher training, scholarships and the provision of technology centers for digital education of children. With this program, school enrollment has increased by 15%.
3. Sports excellence
The right to recreation of children is promoted, promoting values of teamwork; respect for norms and solidarity, through sports and gender equality.
4. My health, my responsibility
With the support of the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation it is possible to link young people to train them in sexual and reproductive health issues, supporting the construction of their long-term life plan. With this program, adolescent pregnancies have been reduced by 11%.
5. Leadership school
Promotes leadership with values and local cultural relevance to create management capacities at the family, community and municipality levels.
6. Agricultural Excellence
This program seeks to make crops more efficient, introduce new species and generate surpluses for the improvement of the family diet and economic activation, since the surpluses are marketed in Alta Verapaz.
7. Training for life
Training and training of youth and adults are developed to improve local technical skills. With the support of INTECAP welding, electricity, mechanics, bakery, sewing and cooking workshops are offered.
Hidroelectrica Renace has selected programs that aim at the development of the human person in a critical stage, in order to develop people better prepared to face their own destiny and that of their families.
Progress in numbers
As part of the Social Strategy, Hydroelectric Renace has implemented seven social programs, 59 infrastructure projects. They benefited more than 21 thousand people in 29 communities. In addition, more than 93 kilometers of roads were built. So far, the total investment is 30 million dollars.
Hydroelectric Renace has selected programs that promote development in all the critical phases of the person, so that they can face their own destiny and that of their families.
