CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF GUATEMALA: The New Value Base in Customs

Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.

Last Thursday, September 27, the Breakfast - Conference was held, "THE NEW BASE OF VALUE IN CUSTOMS".

As part of the customs modernization and transparency effort being implemented by the Customs Intendency, a presentation was made to the members of the Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala, about the new software of the Value Database, which will allow having indicators for measure price fluctuations in an agile manner and in line with the real behavior of international trade through precise mechanisms in the verification of the declared value of merchandise, vital to promote effective compliance with the law and commercial agreements, as well as the correct payment of import taxes.

To do so, it was attended by Mr. Intendente de Aduanas, Magister Werner Ovalle and Engineer Miguel Guerra of the Customs Administration of the Superintendency of Tax Administration.

In the activity, public-private work was highlighted, carried out by the SAT with the different Chambers, through the promotion of the Dialogue Table with Customs, to promote transparent and agile processes, as well as the correct application of regulations and procedures.

As the Chamber of Commerce of Guatemala, we promote a responsible and ethical conduct in our member companies to promote the competitiveness of the sector and the sustainable development of the country, for this reason we believe that Trade Facilitation is important to build and contribute through the coordination of the different public and private actors, to improve the Customs System, making transparent the logistics processes with efficiency and speed in favor of the Competitiveness of Guatemala.
