Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes announces international wheelchair basketball tournament and holiday concert

The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala has announced several cultural and sporting events in December 2025, highlighting both international collaboration and local tradition.

On December 13, 2025, the Ministry shared that the 7th International Wheelchair Basketball Club Championship is taking place at the Polideportivo del Parque Erick Barrondo. According to their post, "Con la participación de los clubes hermanos: El Salvador Honduras Costa Rica Nicaragua Por primera vez: México y Colombia Guatemala: Transiciones y Asodedis Vida Invitado de Honor: Fundación Wheels of Hope LA, Estados Unidos #AlPuebloDignoSeLeResponde" (December 13, 2025). The event features teams from Central America and, for the first time, clubs from Mexico and Colombia. The United States is represented by guest of honor Fundación Wheels of Hope LA.

Further details about the championship were provided later that day. In a separate message posted on December 13, 2025, the Ministry stated: "#Guatemala | Vive la intensidad del 7.º Campeonato Internacional de Clubes de Baloncesto en Silla de Ruedas 2025. Del 12 al 14 de diciembre de 2025 Polideportivo del Parque Erick Barrondo, zona 7 Desde las 8:00 hasta las 17:00 horas #AlPuebloDignoSeLeResponde". The games are scheduled from December 12 to December 14 at the mentioned venue in zone 7 of Guatemala City.

In addition to sports events, the Ministry also invited the public to a holiday concert titled “Gloria in Notte Santa,” performed by tenor Harold Carrillo. On December 13, they wrote: "#Guatemala | Acompáñanos al concierto “Gloria in Notte Santa”, interpretado por el tenor Harold Carrillo, una tarde para reencontrarnos con la música y las tradiciones que inspiran estas fechas. 13 de diciembre 15:00 horas Museo Nacional de Historia" (December 13, 2025). The concert takes place at the Museo Nacional de Historia at three o’clock in the afternoon.
