The proceedings from the international museum conference, "To the Museums, Citizens! Museums and Citizenship: Experiences, Concepts and Challenges," have been published. The book is edited by Luís Raposo, Jody Steiger, and Deborah Tout-Smith.
The publication compiles case studies and reflections presented at the conference held in Lisbon in April 2024. The event marked the 50th anniversary of Portugal’s Carnation Revolution and was organized by the ICOM Executive Board, ICOM Europe, and ICOM Portugal. According to organizers, the papers explore how cultural heritage contributes to human rights and democracy while examining connections between museums and citizens.
The book is available for free in an online library. A brochure about the conference can also be accessed digitally.
