Guatemala’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINEX Guatemala) published a series of posts on November 14, 2025, highlighting the country’s diplomatic milestones and cultural engagements.

In one post, MINEX Guatemala marked three decades of diplomatic relations with Benin.

Later that day, the ministry addressed issues regarding the depiction of national borders in official maps. In another post, it said: "#CasoGuatemalaBelice | El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores informa sobre el uso correcto del mapa de Guatemala.

This communication referenced ongoing sensitivities around the representation of the Belize-Guatemala border, a topic that has been subject to international legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice after both countries agreed in 2008 to resolve their territorial dispute through judicial means.

The ministry also highlighted cultural diplomacy efforts. This tweet referred to Guatemalan writer Carmen Escobar Sarti's participation in an international literary event held in Istanbul.

Guatemala’s foreign policy has prioritized building international relationships since its independence and is currently engaged in several regional and global initiatives aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and cultural exchange. The ongoing dispute over its border with Belize remains one of its most significant foreign policy challenges; both nations continue awaiting a final decision from the International Court of Justice regarding sovereignty claims over certain territories.
