The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) has conducted a technical training session for small-scale producers in Sacatepéquez aimed at improving the genetic and sanitary quality of chicks and increasing hatchability rates.

The workshop was led by Melisa Maybeli Rodríguez Morales, a student pursuing a degree in Animal Science at the Centro Universitario de Oriente (CUNORI). She is completing her supervised professional practice in the Animal Production area of the Escuela Nacional Central de Agricultura (ENCA).

According to organizers, the training focused specifically on techniques for selecting fertile eggs. The objective was to optimize reproductive performance within poultry farms by implementing appropriate methods for choosing productive eggs.

"This training contributes to the improvement of poultry productivity, promoting sustainable and efficient practices that allow small producers to obtain high-quality chicks and strengthen food security in their communities," stated event representatives.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance local agricultural practices and support community-level food production.
