The Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria (SAT) held the second ordinary session of 2025 for the Interinstitutional Council for the Prevention and Combat of Customs Fraud and Smuggling (COINCON). The meeting focused on reviewing results from January to June and discussing upcoming actions aimed at strengthening trade protection, facilitating commerce, and identifying illegal goods.
Edwin Curtidor Juárez, Customs Superintendent and Secretary of COINCON, reported that "during 2025, 1,123 inter-institutional actions have been carried out, resulting in 1,028 seizures with a customs value of Q32.3 million."
The session also highlighted adjustments in customs worth Q24.8 million and six complaints filed for customs fraud amounting to Q30.9 million. Progress was discussed regarding the implementation of new Interinstitutional Control Posts as part of risk management efforts.
"With these actions, we continue advancing with public-private leadership and coordination, which allows us to combat unfair competition and promote fair and secure trade," said officials during the meeting.
