Paying the annual vehicle circulation tax is a legal requirement for all vehicle owners in Guatemala. The process can be completed online, and Banco G&T Continental has promoted its digital services to facilitate compliance.

To pay the tax, individuals need a valid vehicle registration card, license plate number, personal identification document (DPI), no outstanding fines or violations, and the GTCApp installed on their mobile device. The app can be downloaded at https://onelink.to/62n8jh.

The first step involves accessing the SAT Virtual Agency at https://portal.sat.gob.gt/portal/, where users log in, select "Tax Services," choose "Declaraguate," and fill out form SAT-4091 for vehicles. After verifying details and generating the payment slip (SAT-2000), users save it as a PDF.

Payment is then made through the GTCApp by selecting “Payments” → “Declaraguate,” choosing an account or card, validating with a token, entering the SAT slip number, confirming the amount, and saving the receipt within the app.

After payment, users can generate and print their circulation sticker from https://portal.sat.gob.gt/portal/impresion-calcomania/. They access “Tax Services,” select “Vehicles,” consult using their license plate and NIT number, complete a security captcha, and download the sticker as a PDF. Both registration cards and electronic stickers are free to print.

According to Article 10 of the Transit Law Regulations, drivers must carry their registration card or authenticated copy, valid plates, current sticker, and driver’s license while operating a vehicle.

The deadline for paying this tax is July 31 each year. Costs depend on vehicle type, model, and value; exact amounts are available on the SAT portal before payment.

Banco G&T Continental offered an exclusive promotion in July 2025: credit card holders who paid their circulation tax using GTC credit cards received a 14% cashback bonus. This limited-time offer was subject to certain restrictions as part of the bank's effort to support customers’ tax compliance.

The bank encourages early payments to avoid technical issues or queues and recommends keeping receipts for reference.
