The agricultural insurance program for small producers expanded its coverage in 2025, with 40,728 producers receiving support so far this year. This figure marks an increase of over 90% compared to the total number of beneficiaries in 2024.
The insurance provides financial protection for agricultural producers facing crop losses due to extreme weather events such as drought, excessive rainfall, and floods. Its main goal is to lessen the economic impact on producer households and help them recover and continue their production activities.
A significant portion of the claims in 2025 were related to drought damage. Last year, 21,118 producers received support from the program. The increase indicates improved capacity and a stronger program that targets those most in need.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through the Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER), stated its ongoing commitment to supporting production services and promoting productive resilience and food security for producer families.
