The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food delivered 1,200 fish fingerlings to 13 independent producers in the municipalities of San José and San Andrés, Petén. The fingerlings were produced at the Ecoproductive Center in El Remate as part of an initiative to strengthen aquaculture production in the department.

The event was coordinated by the Deputy Ministry for Petén Affairs and technical staff from the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Regulations (DIPESCA), based in Petén.

Producers who received fingerlings also participated in a technical training session led by DIPESCA staff. The training covered feeding stages and included supervision during acclimatization to ensure proper handling of the fish.

According to officials, these efforts are intended to build local capacity and promote good aquaculture practices that support productive development in Petén communities.
