The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) has established a new nursery in Tamahú, Alta Verapaz, with the capacity to produce 80,000 cardamom and coffee plants. The initiative aims to support agricultural production and provide more opportunities for farming families in the region.
According to MAGA, the nursery will help local farmers access high-quality plant material, diversify their crops, and improve their incomes. The project was developed through collaboration between the Department of Agro-Industrial Crops under the Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER), the Municipal Agency for Rural Extension (AMER) of Tamahú, the Municipal Environmental Management Unit (UGAM), and the Social Development Directorate of Tamahú Municipality.
"The cardamom and coffee nursery is an important step to boost economic, social and environmental development in the locality. For this reason MAGA thanks all those involved in this project and reiterates its commitment to sustainable development for communities and farming families," said MAGA representatives.
