Preparations are underway for the 2026 Civic Service project in Zacapa, organized as part of the “Youth Supporting Rural Extension: Farmer to Farmer” initiative by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA). A meeting was held at the departmental headquarters in Zacapa to outline the guidelines for next year.

According to information shared during the event, MAGA Zacapa will have 11 civic service members. These individuals will receive training and provide assistance to farming families in several areas, including establishing family gardens, producing organic fertilizers, reforestation, pest control, and animal health management.

The promotion period for this service is scheduled from May 15 to May 30, 2026. Activities are set to begin in June. Registration will take place through the Civic Service platform using a process similar to last year.

“This project promotes sustainable development and food security in rural communities while benefiting participating youth with skills and knowledge for their future,” according to organizers.

The program aims to support both local agriculture and youth development by providing practical experience and community support.
