Antonio Rodríguez has been elected as the new President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) by the 40th General Assembly. The election took place during the General Conference held in Dubai. Rodríguez, representing ICOM USA, will serve as president for the 2025-2028 term.
Alongside Rodríguez, other members were also chosen for key positions on the ICOM Executive Board for this period. The vice-presidents are Nasir Al Darmaki from ICOM UAE and Tayeebeh Golnaz Golsabahi from ICOM Iran. Goranka Horjan of ICOM Croatia was named treasurer.
The board includes ordinary members from various countries: Muthoni Thang’wa (ICOM Kenya), Joana Sousa Monteiro (ICOM Portugal), Yuji Kurihara (ICOM Japan), Marília Bonas (ICOM Brazil), Kaja Sirok (ICOM Slovenia), Steph Scholten (ICOM UK), Feng Zhao (ICOM China), Jody Steiger (ICOM Costa Rica), Deborah Tout Smith (ICOM Australia), Catherine C. Cole (ICOM Canada), and Ech-Cherki Dahmali (ICOM Morocco).
Yvonne Ploum from ICOM Netherlands was appointed Chairperson of the Advisory Council, with Eunice Báez Sánchez from ICOM Costa Rica serving as Vice-Chair.
