The Instituto Guatemalteco de Seguridad Social (IGSS) recently held its second workshop titled “Strengthening High-Impact Teams” at the Central Offices auditorium. The event, organized by the Subgerencia de Prestaciones Pecuniarias, aimed to reinforce positive values in the workplace.

Approximately 125 participants from various areas of Prestaciones Pecuniarias attended the workshop. They received training on time management, critical thinking, active listening, and ethics.

Magda Aguirre, a promoter of Labor Inclusion from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MINTRAB), spoke about commitment, responsibility, and flexibility in the workplace. She also emphasized the importance of resilience when facing changes in the work environment.

To ensure inclusive communication during the workshop, Marvin Esquite provided sign language interpretation for attendees.

María Alejandra Ruiz Ovando, an industrial and organizational psychologist and university lecturer, led a session on synergy and effective communication. She highlighted building trust and networks among colleagues, supervisors, and managers as key to strengthening work teams.

José Domingo Argueta Salazar, Deputy Manager of Prestaciones Pecuniarias, addressed participants regarding recent improvements: "We have managed to minimize the time for old-age and survivor contributions and through systematization and automation we have achieved process improvement. Likewise, I recognize the work of staff who have achieved a long career in the Institution, urging them to leave a positive mark on younger collaborators."

Related developments include IGSS opening a model business clinic at Ingenio Santa Ana and participating in national medical congresses to highlight advances in cancer care. The institution has also strengthened support for patients on anticoagulant therapy.
