The Unidad Periférica Zona 5 (UPZ5) of the Instituto Guatemalteco de Seguridad Social (IGSS) recently conducted a vaccination campaign at Hidroeléctrica Secacao, S.A., located in colonia San Lázaro, zone 15. This effort is part of the IGSS Institutional Immunization Program and aimed to protect adult workers from hepatitis A and B.

Nursing staff from UPZ5 administered vaccines to employees of Hidroeléctrica Secacao, S.A. The initiative is intended to support occupational health and strengthen the prevention of infectious diseases in workplace environments.

According to Dr. Milton Tunay, medical director of UPZ5, "Our mission is to care for the health of workers, inside and outside medical facilities. These campaigns strengthen prevention and promote a culture of self-care in the workplace."

Representatives from Hidroeléctrica Secacao, S.A. noted the positive impact of the event and stated that their partnership with IGSS demonstrates a shared commitment to employee health and well-being.

The vaccination campaign met its planned coverage goals for immunizations against hepatitis A and B. It also reinforced cooperation between IGSS and private companies regarding occupational health and safety.

Through these efforts, IGSS continues its focus on bringing preventive services directly to workplaces, aiming to create safer and healthier environments for its affiliates.
