Additionally, MINEX Guatemala addressed an ongoing territorial dispute with Belize. Guatemala has been involved in a longstanding territorial dispute with Belize over land and maritime boundaries. The two countries agreed in 2008 to refer their case to the International Court of Justice for resolution after holding national referendums.
