The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala commemorated more than sixty years of friendship between Guatemala and the Republic of Korea with a concert held at the Palacio Nacional de la Cultura, according to a series of tweets posted on November 8, 2025.
In its first post, the Ministry stated: "Más de seis décadas de amistad entre Guatemala y la República de Corea fueron conmemoradas este viernes en el Palacio Nacional de la Cultura con el Gran Concierto de Paz y Amistad, en recuerdo de la Guerra de Corea. #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero" (November 8, 2025).
A subsequent tweet listed attendees at the event: "Asistieron el presidente @BArevalodeLeon; la primera dama, @LucreciaPeinado; la ministra @LiwyGrazioso; el embajador de la República de Corea en Guatemala, Deuk Hwan Kim; la viceministra de Patrimonio Cultural y Natural, Laura Cotí Lux; y el viceministro, Francisco Aguilar." (November 8, 2025).
Highlighting the significance of cultural ties through art, Minister Liwy Grazioso was quoted in another tweet: "La ministra @Liwy_Grazioso destacó: 'Esta noche, Guatemala y la República de Corea se encuentran unidas por ese denominador común que es el arte. En este escenario, el talento de estos artistas se extiende como un sólido puente'." (November 8, 2025).
The relationship between Guatemala and South Korea dates back to the early 1960s when diplomatic relations were established. Over time, both countries have engaged in various forms of cooperation including cultural exchanges and economic partnerships.
