The Ministerio de Salud Pública y Asistencia Social (MSPAS) of Guatemala has recently shared updates on several public health initiatives through its official Twitter account. The tweets highlight the inauguration of a new human milk bank, the inclusion of the varicella vaccine in the national immunization schedule, and preparations for international tobacco control negotiations.
This announcement follows efforts by health authorities in Guatemala to expand access to vaccines and improve disease prevention among children.
The workshop was organized as part of Guatemala's preparations for the eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties (COP11) under the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), aiming to enhance coordination between state institutions in addressing emerging challenges related to tobacco use.
Guatemala's Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance regularly coordinates with international organizations such as PAHO/WHO to secure vaccines and participate in global health governance forums like COP11. These actions are part of ongoing efforts by Guatemalan authorities to strengthen public health infrastructure and preventive care across the country.
