The Universidad Mesoamericana and the Escuela de Teología, Biblia y Pastoral Santo Tomás de Aquino have signed an academic agreement to jointly develop educational programs in theology, biblical studies, and pastoral work. The signing took place in Guatemala on July 8, 2025, with members of the university’s Board of Directors present.
Pbro. Rómulo Gallegos Alvarado, Rector of Universidad Mesoamericana, and Fray Porfirio Atencio, Director General of the Escuela de Teología, attended the event. Both leaders emphasized the significance of this collaboration for advancing education that integrates critical thinking and faith.
"This agreement opens up possibilities for developing diploma programs, free courses, technical programs and continuing education initiatives that meet the need to train pastoral agents with a high academic level and a vocation for service," according to representatives from both institutions.
University officials stated that this partnership aligns with Universidad Mesoamericana’s salesian identity and mission to provide comprehensive education tailored to social and ecclesial needs. They reaffirmed their commitment "to transform lives through knowledge" by expanding inter-institutional cooperation focused on human and Christian formation.
