Students from Universidad Panamericana (UPANA) have achieved notable results in national law competitions, according to a recent announcement by the institution. Participants from the Faculty of Legal Sciences and Justice won first place at the 2025 Interuniversity Legislative Moot organized by the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala. Their team proposed legislation to address odor pollution, aiming to fill a legal gap with practical solutions.

The winning students—Brihan Joel Herrera, María Fernanda Buch, Mayra Alejandra Vásquez, Andrea Karina Sazo, and Daniela Alejandra Ávila Barrios—are based at UPANA’s Central Campus in Spazio and Campus Naranjo. Through their involvement in this competition, they experienced firsthand the legislative process and strengthened their professional skills.

Additionally, three students from UPANA’s Cobán Campus secured first place in an Intellectual Property Mediation Competition organized by the Mediation and Conciliation Center of the Intellectual Property Registry. The event focused on copyright issues related to artificial intelligence, promoting practical legal analysis in a modern context.

“These achievements reflect the talent of our students and our faculty’s commitment to training professionals who are prepared for national and global challenges,” stated UPANA.

The Faculty of Legal Sciences and Justice at UPANA offers programs such as a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Sciences and Justice, Master’s Degree in Procedural Law, PEI Program in Legal Sciences and Justice, and Doctorate in Law and Justice. The faculty emphasizes critical thinking, ethical values, research methodologies, and student autonomy.

Currently, UPANA is accepting applications for 2026 through its online registration portal: https://inscripciones.upana.edu.gt/. The university operates 13 campuses and 106 satellite locations across Guatemala City and other regions. More than 20,000 students are enrolled across 140 academic programs including technical degrees, teaching credentials, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates.
