Universidad Galileo and Nestlé recently collaborated to organize a workshop for journalists focused on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in media. The event included a conference titled “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence: 12 Key Concepts to Understand It” and a practical laboratory session, “Innovation with AI: Transforming Media,” led by experts from Universidad Galileo.
The initiative was aimed at professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge of emerging technologies in news production and dissemination. The activity is part of Academia Nestlé, an educational program designed to enhance professional skills and foster innovation through learning opportunities.
During the event, participants explored fundamental concepts of AI as well as its real-world applications in journalism. The conference was presented by MSc. Alí Lemus, Director of the Turing Laboratory at Universidad Galileo, which focuses on technological innovation research and development. Dr. Miguel Morales-Chan, founder and coordinator of GES AI-LAB—an institution specializing in generative AI solutions for education—led the practical workshop segment.
Experts guided attendees through tools and strategies for integrating AI into journalistic work. Participants received certificates upon completion.
“The intelligence artificial is transforming all sectors, and journalism is no exception. At Universidad Galileo we seek to create these spaces so that communication professionals can adapt, innovate, and lead change,” said MSc. Rodrigo Baessa, Dean of the Faculty of Systems Engineering, Computer Science and Computing Sciences at Universidad Galileo.
Licda. Ericka Porta, Corporate Affairs and Public Manager at Nestlé stated: “For Nestlé, education and professional development are fundamental pillars.”
She added: “Through this alliance we reaffirm our commitment to provide training to journalists by offering learning opportunities that allow them to face challenges and capitalize on opportunities in a constantly evolving digital world.”
With this effort, both organizations aim to promote innovation and strengthen key competencies among media professionals as the industry adapts to new digital realities.
