Cruz Roja Guatemalteca participated in a press conference to announce the Macro Simulacro Municipal 2025, an event organized by the Dirección de Administración de Vulnerabilidades y Emergencias (AVE) of the Municipalidad de Guatemala. The exercise is scheduled for February 3 and 4, 2025, and aims to improve emergency preparedness among public and private institutions as well as the general population.

The event will include several activities. On February 3, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, there will be emergency simulations at Plaza de la Constitución. These demonstrations will cover pre-hospital care, search and rescue operations, vehicle extraction, and fire control.

Additionally, the Municipal Emergency Operations Center (COEM), located in zone 12, will be activated to coordinate emergency responses according to international standards. This center plays a central role in the city's response plan.

On February 4 at 9:00 a.m., more than 1.3 million people across approximately 1,000 buildings are expected to participate in a citywide evacuation drill. The Red de Sirenas Municipales will be activated throughout various zones of Guatemala City.

A representative from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca stated their ongoing commitment "to promote a culture of prevention and collaborate with authorities to safeguard people's lives." The organization emphasized that this event highlights the importance of preparedness and cooperation when facing future challenges.
