Cruz Roja Guatemalteca took part in the Second National Forest Fire Suppression Exercise, which was organized by the Guatemalan Army and Conred. The organization played a key role by deploying resources for command post operations, prehospital care, and aerial medical evacuation.

In the command post, Cruz Roja Guatemalteca worked alongside other agencies to coordinate resources and make real-time decisions. This coordination aimed to optimize supplies and ensure that all actions followed emergency response protocols. According to the organization, "The experience acquired in the simulation reinforces the ability to respond to real situations, where control and coordination are crucial for saving lives."

During the exercise, prehospital care teams from Cruz Roja provided immediate medical assistance under simulated high-pressure conditions. The group stated, "This early intervention is key to stabilizing those affected and improving outcomes during crises."

Aerial medical evacuation was another focus of the exercise. Cruz Roja Guatemalteca collaborated with the Air Force of the Guatemalan Army to plan and carry out patient transfers using helicopters. The organization explained that this method "ensures that people who require specialized care are quickly transported to healthcare centers," which can improve recovery chances.

The event highlighted cooperation among several institutions including the Army, Conred, fire departments, and others. Cruz Roja noted that such collaboration "is a clear example of how joint work enhances disaster response capacity, reduces risks, and protects lives."

Cruz Roja Guatemalteca emphasized its ongoing commitment to preparedness through continuous training and interagency cooperation. It also encouraged those interested in learning more about its programs or training initiatives to visit www.cruzroja.gt.
