The Guatemalan Red Cross has opened a new logistics center in the San Marcos delegation, aiming to strengthen its emergency response capabilities. The inauguration event was attended by Annabella Folgar, National President of Cruz Roja Guatemalteca, as well as volunteers and staff members.

The 600-square-meter facility is designed to improve the prepositioning and management of supplies, equipment, and humanitarian aid. With this new space, essential materials can be stored in an organized way for rapid mobilization during emergencies or disasters.

At the opening ceremony, officials and operational personnel emphasized the value of having modern infrastructure to meet community needs. Annabella Folgar stated that "prevention and preparedness are fundamental pillars for saving lives in critical moments."

International organizations played a significant role in making this project possible. Support from ECHO of the European Union in Guatemala, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Spanish Red Cross, and German Red Cross was crucial to realizing the initiative. This cooperation highlights the importance of global partnerships in managing emergencies.

The launch of this logistics center marks an important step forward for Cruz Roja Guatemalteca’s strategy on preparedness and response. The organization aims to act more quickly and effectively when crises arise, helping protect people across Guatemala.

Cruz Roja Guatemalteca maintains its commitment to being ready for any situation by working with national and international partners to ensure community safety and wellbeing.
