A motorcyclist died on December 8, 2024, following a collision with a tree on Calzada Luis Flores Asturias in Coatepeque, Quetzaltenango. The incident occurred at high speed and resulted in the victim suffering multiple traumas that caused immediate death at the scene.

Cruz Roja Guatemalteca reported that their teams responded quickly to the accident but were unable to save the individual. "The impact was so severe that the motorcyclist suffered multiple traumas that caused immediate death at the scene. Local residents noted that this stretch of road is often dangerous due to drivers exceeding speed limits. Witnesses said the motorcyclist lost control before striking the tree.

Authorities secured the area and began an investigation into the cause of the crash. While no official conclusions have been released, excessive speed is believed to be a likely factor.

Emergency teams from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca confirmed the fatality and coordinated with police and prosecutors for further action. They also reminded motorists to drive carefully, especially in urban areas and during year-end holidays when accident risks increase.

Cruz Roja Guatemalteca reaffirmed its commitment to emergency response and promoting road safety for all users.
