Rescue teams from the Cruz Roja Guatemalteca responded quickly after receiving a report that a child had been swept away by the current of the Las Vacas River in Chinautla, Guatemala. The search and rescue operations began immediately, with trained volunteers and specialized equipment working without interruption.
Efforts have continued despite difficult conditions caused by rising river levels due to heavy rainfall in the region. Both Cruz Roja Guatemalteca and Bomberos Voluntarios have maintained their commitment to supporting the affected family and community, holding onto hope of finding the missing child.
The rescue teams have increased patrols in critical areas of the river where it is believed the current may have carried the child. They are using both water and land search equipment to ensure thorough coverage of the area, often working extended shifts.
Cruz Roja Guatemalteca has urged people to exercise extreme caution near bodies of water, especially during rainy seasons. "Sudden increases in water levels and strong currents pose significant dangers for anyone approaching these areas, and it is crucial to follow authorities' recommendations to prevent further tragedies," stated representatives from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca.
