Cruz Roja Guatemalteca, with support from Aecid, recently held a gender-based violence awareness workshop in Aldea Feria, San Marcos. The event was part of the project “Contributing to the Restoration of Rights for Migrant and Displaced Populations from Central America and Mexico (phase 2)” and brought together 150 community members.

The workshop was conducted under migration agreement 8299 and aimed to strengthen understanding and response to gender-based violence. Participants were educated on how to identify, prevent, and address cases of such violence. The session also provided tools for offering psychological support during emergencies.

Attendees took part in educational activities and interactive discussions about different forms of gender-based violence and their effects on the community. Facilitators emphasized the importance of creating a safer and more equitable environment for everyone, highlighting the role each community member plays in preventing and reporting gender-based violence.

The project focuses especially on migrant and displaced populations, aiming to restore their rights and equip them with resources to face situations involving violence or discrimination. This workshop is seen as an important step toward building support networks and promoting community resilience.

Cruz Roja Guatemalteca stated its ongoing commitment to protecting human rights and promoting gender equality. Through initiatives like this workshop, the organization works to empower communities and encourage positive change.
