The Guatemalan Red Cross rescue team is currently deployed in Escuintla to search for a missing aircraft. The operation is being conducted in coordination with the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) of Guatemala and supported by the European Union's Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid.

Rescue teams are using drones to enhance the search efforts. The use of this technology allows for broader and more detailed coverage of the area, which helps increase efficiency in locating the aircraft. Drones are especially useful in challenging terrain where visibility and mobility are limited.

The logistical and technical support from the European Union strengthens the response capabilities of the Guatemalan Red Cross. International cooperation provides additional resources and specialized knowledge that significantly improve rescue operations.

"Cruz Roja Guatemalteca reaffirms its commitment to the safety and well-being of the population. Search and rescue operations are an integral part of our humanitarian mission, and our institution strives to be prepared and equipped to respond to any emergency," stated a representative from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca.
