Cruz Roja Guatemalteca has conducted a fumigation campaign in zones 1 and 4 of Chiquimula, Guatemala. The main goal of this effort is to prevent the spread of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease that poses a public health risk.
The organization stated that the fumigation aims to reduce the number of mosquitoes that transmit dengue by applying insecticides in residential areas. Other objectives include minimizing the risk of dengue outbreaks and protecting community health by lowering potential infections and complications linked to the disease.
Additionally, Cruz Roja Guatemalteca is working to raise awareness among residents about preventive measures. The organization encourages people to keep their homes free from mosquito breeding sites and adopt other recommended practices.
"The fumigation campaign has been fundamental for reducing the risk of dengue transmission in Chiquimula. By eliminating adult mosquitoes and decreasing the population of transmitting insects, we contribute to protecting residents' health and preventing possible outbreaks," said Cruz Roja Guatemalteca representatives.
