Cruz Roja Guatemalteca has organized educational sessions and fumigation activities in the communities of Brisas del Mar and Colonia Pantanal to prevent the spread of dengue. The organization’s volunteers focused on informing residents about preventive measures against the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is responsible for transmitting dengue.

During these sessions, volunteers explained the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites, such as containers with stagnant water, and encouraged hygiene practices to lower infection risks. In addition to education, fumigation—referred to as nebulization—was conducted in coordination with local health authorities. This method aims to reduce adult mosquito populations while ensuring that the products used are safe for both people and the environment.

Residents actively participated in these efforts, reflecting a shared commitment to community health. Cruz Roja Guatemalteca plans to continue monitoring these areas to assess the effectiveness of their interventions and adjust strategies as needed.

“Through initiatives like these, the organization reaffirms its commitment to promoting public health and preventing vector-borne diseases. Collaboration with the community and health authorities is essential for achieving a safer and healthier environment for everyone,” said representatives from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca.

The organization encourages those interested in supporting prevention campaigns or learning more about ongoing activities to follow their social media channels or visit their website.
