Cruz Roja Guatemalteca, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and the Municipality of Moyuta, provided free medical care to 426 people in the communities of Caserío Los Estrada, Aldea El Paraíso, and Aldea Nueva Montúfar. This effort was carried out in response to ongoing flooding that has affected the region.
The medical intervention took place as part of a coordinated response to a humanitarian crisis caused by floods that have created significant challenges for local residents. Teams from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca, together with health professionals from the Ministry of Health and staff from the Municipality, delivered medical consultations, treatments, and medicines to those impacted.
Flooding in these areas has increased demand for healthcare services. The assistance focused on addressing issues related to contaminated water and diseases transmitted by vectors. Collaboration among the institutions enabled a comprehensive response, ensuring timely medical attention for community members.
Cruz Roja Guatemalteca expressed gratitude for the support from its partners during this humanitarian mission. "The coordination between these institutions has been essential to provide effective assistance and reach a large number of people in need," said Cruz Roja Guatemalteca.
The organization also emphasized its ongoing commitment: "Our commitment to the community is fundamental in facing challenges posed by natural disasters. Cruz Roja Guatemalteca will continue working in the region to support affected families and help recovery efforts."
