Propane truck fire in Santa Lucía Utatlán contained without injuries

A truck carrying propane gas cylinders caught fire on the morning of October 19, 2025, at kilometer 144 of the CA-1 Occidente highway in Santa Lucía Utatlán, Sololá. The incident raised concerns among local residents, but no injuries were reported due to the prompt response from emergency teams.

The fire began around 7:15 a.m. Emergency personnel from Cruz Roja Guatemalteca (CRG), Cuerpo de Bomberos Municipales Departamentales (CBMD), and Cuerpo de Bomberos Voluntarios (CVB) responded to the scene to contain the flames and secure the area.

"The coordinated effort between different emergency units was crucial to prevent the incident from becoming a tragedy," authorities stated. They confirmed that there were no injuries and that teams continued working to ensure safety and prevent further risks.
