Cruz Roja Guatemalteca’s youth section recently took part in a reforestation event in Quetzaltenango. The activity, held in Colonia Molina Zone 2 and Cerro El Baúl, was conducted with the help of environmental organizations and local youth groups. More than 450 trees were planted during the initiative.

According to Cruz Roja Guatemalteca, “The participation of Cruz Roja de la Juventud, along with environmental organizations and local youth groups, has been fundamental for the success of the activity. The planting of these trees not only contributes to the recovery of green areas but also promotes awareness about the importance of conservation and sustainable development.”

Volunteers and other participants planted trees in previously prepared areas. This effort aims to improve air quality, prevent soil erosion, and create habitats for local wildlife. Organizers said that working together on this project demonstrates a commitment to protecting natural spaces and encouraging ecological practices.

The long-term impact of this reforestation is expected as the trees mature, contributing to regional environmental health. Such activities are seen as important steps in addressing climate change and strengthening local ecosystems.

Cruz Roja de la Juventud expressed gratitude toward all volunteers, organizations, and youth groups involved in making the event possible. “The collaboration and enthusiasm demonstrated during the event are a testament to the community’s commitment to protecting the environment,” they stated.
