The National Council of the Guatemalan Red Cross recently held a meeting to review and discuss its joint strategy with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Restoring Family Links (RFL). The focus of the meeting was to strengthen and coordinate efforts that help reestablish communication and contact between family members separated by emergencies, disasters, or crises.

During the meeting, participants aimed to examine and update the joint strategy for RFL. They sought to align actions and procedures between the Guatemalan Red Cross and the ICRC. Another goal was to ensure effective coordination of resources and activities between both organizations in order to improve efficiency and impact in RFL operations. Additionally, those present discussed current challenges in implementing the strategy and proposed solutions for better service delivery.

The organizations highlighted that this strategy is essential for supporting people affected by emergencies, disasters, or crises. Facilitating communication among separated families helps reduce stress and uncertainty while providing a sense of security.
