The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) and High Q International have opened a new workplace medical clinic in Zacapa. The initiative is part of the IGSS program that aims to bring medical services directly to employees at their place of work and strengthen preventive care efforts.

Currently, IGSS has signed around 200 agreements with various companies across the country as part of this program. Through these partnerships, workers receive direct attention from medical teams, focusing on prevention and health promotion within their work environment.

During the inauguration ceremony, Bernardo Elhe, General Manager of High Q International, welcomed authorities and employees. He stated: "The most important resource of the company is its workers and this clinic reinforces our commitment to their overall well-being."

Dr. Rudy López, Head of Preventive Medicine at IGSS, also spoke about the significance of these collaborations: "We are proud as an institution for what we have achieved through these strategic alliances that bring medical services closer to workers."

As part of the opening event, a Social Security Day was held where workers received preventive care including HIV tests, general check-ups, laboratory exams, and hepatitis A vaccinations.

Sonia García, an employee at High Q’s greenhouse in Zacapa, expressed her appreciation for the new services: "I am grateful to the company and IGSS for providing health services directly at my workplace."

According to IGSS representatives, initiatives like this clinic are designed to improve access to healthcare for employees nationwide by making it available within their workplaces.

With the establishment of this new model business clinic and accompanying activities focused on social security awareness and prevention, IGSS continues its effort to foster healthier and more productive work environments.
