The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) and Banco Industrial have opened a new workplace clinic aimed at providing healthcare services to more than 15,000 employees of the financial group. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate health, productivity, and well-being for workers.

At the inauguration event, IGSS Board President José Adolfo Flamenco Jau said that the clinic brings healthcare closer to where people spend much of their day. "At IGSS we work to safeguard the financial and health security of our members, and the Company Clinics are part of this comprehensive strategy for your benefit," he stated.

The IGSS’s Company Clinics model is designed to meet the needs of a growing country by emphasizing efficiency and prevention. These clinics provide early diagnosis, timely treatment, and reduce the need for travel, thereby optimizing time and supporting workers’ physical and emotional health.

The new IGSS-BI Clinic will offer general medical care, vaccinations, chronic disease management, nutritional follow-up, and medication dispensing. All services are integrated in real time with the MEDIIGSS system, allowing automatic referrals to other medical units within IGSS.

Banco Industrial’s corporate manager Luis Rolando Lara highlighted the shared commitment between both institutions: "I congratulate IGSS on its sustained growth; this effort to reach more Guatemalans is bearing fruit and this Company Clinic is part of it," he commented.

Francisco Gódinez Jerez, deputy manager for Health Benefits at IGSS, noted: "The greatest benefit of this project is having healthcare services within easy reach." Administrative analyst Celeste López expressed her appreciation: "I'm glad they thought about us; now receiving care will be much more agile."

Alongside the clinic opening, a Social Security Day was held where employees accessed IGSS’s range of services including medical evaluations and preventive guidance.

President Flamenco Jau emphasized that such actions show IGSS's ongoing expansion after nearly 79 years: “With actions like this, we demonstrate that IGSS does not stop; we are a living institution that is reaching 79 years old and shows that it is constantly expanding.”

The partnership underscores efforts by both organizations to foster healthy workplaces while ensuring access to healthcare as an essential right for affiliates.
