The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS), in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), has delivered 35 new ambulances to medical units across the country. The initiative aims to improve emergency response and benefit IGSS members and their dependents nationwide.

The new vehicles were presented by José Adolfo Flamenco, president of the IGSS Board of Directors, and Edson Javier Rivera Méndez, manager of the institution. These ambulances will be assigned to various medical units in different departments, including remote areas.

According to IGSS officials, this delivery is part of the InfraIGSS project focused on modernizing both infrastructure and medical resources within the social security system. The strategic distribution is expected to strengthen emergency service coverage in regions requiring immediate medical attention.

"The units of emergency, presented by José Adolfo Flamenco, president of the Board of Directors at IGSS, and Edson Javier Rivera Méndez, manager of the institution, will be assigned to different medical units in various departments, including remote locations," according to an official statement.
