Grupo Ficohsa participated as a sponsor in the 2025 Sustainability Week organized by Fundahrse, held from May 13 to 16 in San Pedro Sula. The event, themed “Materializing a sustainable and resilient future,” brought together business leaders, international organizations, civil society, and sustainability experts to discuss the private sector’s role in building more resilient societies.
As part of the event, the IV ARISE FORUM 2025 for the Americas and the Caribbean was announced under the title “Connecting for a resilient and prosperous future.” This forum is led by the Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies (ARISE), a network managed by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
Grupo Ficohsa also took part in a panel discussion titled “Managing reputation and trust in risk environments.” Raúl Palomo, Corporate Reputation Manager at Grupo Ficohsa, shared insights on implementing best practices to strengthen trust and credibility among stakeholders. Palomo stated: “At Ficohsa we believe that reputation is built with coherent and sustainable actions. We are committed to transparency and integrity as fundamental values to generate trust in an increasingly challenging environment.”
The organization highlighted its Sustainability Strategy aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. According to Karla Simón, Vice President of Sustainability at Grupo Ficohsa: “With our sustainability strategy we reaffirm our commitment to doing business responsibly while generating a positive impact on society. Socially, we focus on employee well-being, socioeconomic empowerment through financial inclusion, banking access, entrepreneurship, and education through Fundación Ficohsa. Environmentally, we are working to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. Through good corporate governance we continuously reinforce our values by conducting business with integrity and transparency.”
Education remains a priority for Grupo Ficohsa’s social initiatives. Through Fundación Ficohsa, the group supports education for children and youth as part of its transformation efforts. The De Mi Tierra program aims to promote economic growth in rural areas by providing credit access for production activities; this has benefited over 100 agricultural communities in Honduras.
Another initiative highlighted was Mujeres Adelante, which focuses on strengthening both economic and personal well-being among women professionals, heads of households, and entrepreneurs nationwide. With 3,400 women trained in entrepreneurship topics so far, this program aims to foster local economic development and create real opportunities for women’s autonomy.
Additionally, the Tu Conciencia Financiera program promotes financial knowledge and responsibility across the region. More than 100,000 people have benefited from increased financial inclusion through this initiative.
Grupo Ficohsa says these programs demonstrate how value can be created with purpose while promoting collective well-being alongside stakeholders toward a more resilient and inclusive future.
