The Infectious Diseases and HIV Clinic at Hospital Roosevelt organized the “Feria Cultural por la Vida,” an event aimed at increasing patient knowledge about various diseases treated in the clinic. The educational activity combined recreation with health promotion.

During the event, patients engaged in activities based on traditional Guatemalan games such as lotería, trompo, capirucho, and avioncito. Each game was adapted to provide key information about prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases including HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis.

The fair also featured a special participation from the Mayan ball program of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. This addition brought a demonstration of Guatemala’s ancestral heritage to the event and supported an intercultural and community-based approach to healthcare.

According to organizers, this initiative is part of Hospital Roosevelt’s broader strategies to humanize care and empower patients through playful education.
