A technical assistance session focused on monitoring the health of cattle was carried out by the Vice Ministry in Charge of Petén Affairs (VIPETÉN), through the Directorate of Agricultural Development (DAGRO), in the community of La Lorena, located in the municipality of Poptún, Petén.
During this activity, staff from VIPETÉN's Livestock Department conducted tuberculin testing and serological sampling on 75 cattle. The purpose of these actions is to detect and prevent diseases such as tuberculosis and brucellosis, which can impact livestock production and pose risks to public health.
According to officials, "These actions are part of the work promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) to strengthen livestock production, ensure animal health, and improve the well-being of families dedicated to this activity in the department of Petén."
The initiative is intended to support local farmers by improving animal health standards and preventing disease outbreaks within the region.
