The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala recently shared updates on various cultural and sports activities across the country through its official social media account. The posts highlighted events involving youth engagement in sports, preservation of cultural heritage, and educational workshops.

On November 11, 2025, the Ministry reported on a basketball tournament held at the Centro Deportivo Erick Barrondo: "#Guatemala | Más de 360 niñas y niños llenaron la cancha de talento y entusiasmo en un vibrante Torneo de Baloncesto 5×5 en el Polideportivo del Centro Deportivo Erick Barrondo. Así se desarrollo la actividad. https://t.co/YbZRwXwnKm #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero". The event saw participation from over 360 children.

A subsequent post on November 12, 2025, described efforts to protect intangible cultural heritage: "#Izabal | Con el objetivo de identificar y salvaguardar las expresiones culturales, se llevó a cabo el Encuentro Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial Afrodescendiente y Garífuna. #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero https://t.co/Y07PgDIPFJ". This gathering aimed to identify and safeguard Afro-descendant and Garífuna cultural expressions.

Also on November 12, the Ministry posted about an educational workshop in Quetzaltenango: "#Quetzaltenango | 38 estudiantes de Coatepeque, participaron de un taller que los conectó con la obra del Premio Nobel Miguel Ángel Asturias de manera lúdica y creativa. Conoce los detalles del taller. https://t.co/z5zryvRV34 #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero". Thirty-eight students from Coatepeque participated in this creative activity focused on Nobel Prize winner Miguel Ángel Asturias.

These initiatives form part of broader efforts by the Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala to promote youth involvement in sports, preserve national heritage—especially among minority groups such as Afro-descendants and Garífuna—and foster appreciation for Guatemalan literature among young people. The Ministry regularly conducts such programs to strengthen national identity and support community development.
