The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through the Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER), has distributed solid water agricultural polymer to avocado producers involved in 27 model cultivation projects. These initiatives are located in the municipalities of Sumpango, Santa María de Jesús, Ciudad Vieja, and San Antonio Aguas Calientes in Sacatepéquez department.
According to MAGA, this technology is designed to strengthen agricultural production by improving soil moisture retention and optimizing water use. The innovation aims to increase water availability at the plant root zone.
The ministry stated that this approach "favors nutrient absorption and increases crop efficiency, contributing to sustainable technological advancement in avocado production in the region."
Officials added that the introduction of this technology is part of MAGA's broader strategy to promote resilient and efficient agricultural practices that support higher yields while ensuring responsible management of natural resources.
