The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala, the government entity responsible for promoting cultural and sports activities in the country, shared a series of posts on November 19, 2025, highlighting upcoming events and commemorations.
In one post from November 19, 2025, the ministry invited the public to join students from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música “Germán Alcántara” for an afternoon dedicated to zarzuela. The message stated: "#Guatemala | ¡Despidamos el año cantando! Entrada libre #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero".
Later that same day, the ministry announced an exhibition featuring portraits of survivors from Guatemala's internal armed conflict. According to their post: "#Guatemala | ¡23 rostros de lucha y dignidad humana!
During the event, Minister Liwy Grazioso emphasized the significance of the photographic display.
The references to Sepur Zarco and Mujeres Achi highlight important legal cases involving indigenous women who survived sexual violence during Guatemala's internal armed conflict. The Ministry’s efforts are part of ongoing national initiatives aimed at acknowledging historical injustices and promoting cultural memory.
