In El Tikalito, a rural community in Melchor de Mencos, Petén, members of the Centros de Aprendizaje para el Desarrollo Rural (CADER) group took part in a practical training session on making natural deodorants from aloe vera. The event aimed to encourage personal care and the use of local resources.
The session was led by a rural home extension worker from the Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería y Alimentación (MAGA), who provided guidance on how to prepare the product and explained its benefits.
Aloe vera, also known as sábila, is a succulent plant with various medicinal and cosmetic uses. The women participating in the training grow their own aloe vera plants, which supports self-sufficiency and sustainable use of local crops.
