The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through its Urban Agriculture Department under the Vice Ministry of Food and Nutritional Security, has provided technical assistance and training for the maintenance of the Pedagogical School Garden at Instituto Adolfo V. Hall in Santa Cruz del Quiché.

Throughout the 2025 school year, staff from the Urban Agriculture Department distributed tools, seeds, and seedlings of various vegetable varieties to the educational community. The department also implemented activities for establishing, monitoring, and supporting the management of the school garden.

As a result of these efforts, a successful harvest was achieved with cilantro, onion, bell pepper, squash, and radishes. According to MAGA, "These products, in addition to strengthening practical learning about agriculture, nutrition and sustainability, contributed to promoting healthy eating habits among students."

MAGA stated: "A school garden is an educational space intended for planting, cultivating and caring for food. It is integrated into the educational plan as a pedagogical tool to teach about agriculture, nutrition, environmental care and healthy habits. This type of garden also encourages responsibility, teamwork and self-consumption."
