The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through its Directorate of Regional Coordination and Rural Extension (DICORER), organized a training session for professionals in associativity and commercialization from all 22 departments of the country. The event, supported by the World Food Programme (WFP), aimed to strengthen the economy of family farmers and broaden their market access.
The training included both theoretical and practical modules. Participants expanded their knowledge on priority topics for 2026, such as improving associativity, accessing new markets, and working with local stakeholders.
They also learned how they can use their roles to enhance connections between family farming and local markets, conduct territorial diagnostics, and identify potential farmers.
According to MAGA's vision for 2026, promoted through DICORER, there is an emphasis on developing commercial opportunities for farmers beyond what is currently established with the School Feeding Program. The goal is to reach additional local and national markets.
The trained professionals will share what they have learned with extension teams. They will help expand market opportunities for producers by supporting activities like Farmers' Fairs, facilitating contact with businesses that need products from family agriculture, and setting up commercial platforms.
