The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) in Alta Verapaz has conducted a workshop aimed at strengthening the leadership and empowerment of rural women. The training targeted extension workers from Hogar Rural and focused on entrepreneurship as well as the development of sustainable economic initiatives. These efforts are intended to be replicated in local Centers for Learning for Rural Development (CADER).

A specialist from the Office for the Defense of Indigenous Women (DEMI) led the session, providing tools designed to enhance women's economic empowerment. According to MAGA, this approach aims to foster autonomy, leadership, and improved capacity among women so they can lead productive projects within their communities.

"This training space highlights the fundamental role that women play in community development, contributing to the well-being of rural families and local economic growth," said an official from MAGA.

The initiative underscores MAGA’s ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality and supporting rural livelihoods through targeted education and support programs.
