Dozens of older adults in Poptún, Petén participated in the fourth edition of the National Committee for the Protection of the Elderly (CONAPROV) Fair. The event included health services, recreational activities, and information sessions aimed at supporting this population.

The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) organized a team of specialists to provide various services during the fair. These included measuring vital signs, recording weight and height, offering medical and nutritional guidance, and providing advice on pensions and retirement.

IGSS nutritionists also led a talk focused on health and healthy habits. According to José Domingo Argueta, Deputy Manager of Pecuniary Benefits and IGSS representative to CONAPROV, "the best professionals were present at the activity to provide care to older adults." He added, "The Institute is once again present and says 'an IGSS closer to you.'"

More than fifty older adults received attention at the IGSS stand during the event. The fair also featured activities such as dancing, marimba music, and informational talks.

CONAPROV brings together different institutions to promote and coordinate programs that benefit older adults. Dr. Gil Paiz, Departmental Director of Integrated Health Service Networks for Petén's South East Area, said: "This union of efforts between IGSS and other entities is very beneficial for our people in Poptún."
